I am writing my college application essay and I want to describe how much I felt ashamed of myself but, I don’t want to use the word “ashamed”. Can anyone please tell me an interesting word to put in my essay instead of ashamed. I felt____of myself. Thanks!
Google it – that’s what online thesauri are for! That way you can even look up how to use the synonyms, because if I said “mortified” as a synonym for “ashamed” and you used it like “mortified of myself,” that wouldn’t be the most common usage and might sound a little off to a reader.
