Chancellor Kent Syverud will be the next University of Michigan president, MLive.com reported Sunday. In August 2025, Syverud announced he’d be stepping down from Syracuse University at the end of the school year.
The move would mark a return to Ann Arbor for Syverud, who earned his master’s and law degrees from UMich and was previously on the faculty of its law school. Syverud is expected to replace interim President Domenico Grasso, who has led the university since the departure of former President Santa J. Ono in 2024.
Home run hire. But will interesting to see how athletics gets handled. Different scale vs SU.
