Son accepted Newhouse/i school dual with $10k merit. So happy for him.
test optional
1/2 Tuition for the Leadership Scholars Program. She auditioned for her major in the VPA School.
Ugh, I sort of wish I hadnât checked this. S24 hasnât received notice. Syracuse admissions website still says admission notification âbeginsâ Dec 22. I know itâs been said elsewhere that the ED acceptances donât all roll out at the same time, but I donât know if thatâs really confirmed so doesnât make this news any less stressful. Especially since they moved the initial notification date - why would they do that and then start notifying kids before the new date anyway?
Just have your student check their email tomorrow. Notification came at 4:16 for my S24. They were kind by starting to notify earlier than the 12/22 date. Good luck!
My son applied ED and received a deferral. We are disheartened! Does anyone have any advice or insight on whether he still has a chance? he had Falk as first option, Whitman as second and I think the âany otherâ as third. Does the deferral mean that Falk deferred decision or that none of the schools would take him?
I would reach out to admissions for clarity. Which program at Falk? Sports Analytics and Sports Management are highly competitive because the limited spaces available. I think they admit under ~100 students for those programs.
He applied to sports management. I know itâs very competitive.
Last year, our kidâs regular merit (leadership scholarship) showed up in his acceptance letter. His tuition exchange award only ever showed up in his MySlice portal, and stacked with his leadership scholarship. However, he applied RD, so they may do things different with ED.
Thank you for this! Do you remember if the tuition exchange showed up in myslice immediately, or did that come later? Just wondering about the timeline âŠ
It showed up right away. But RD decisions came out pretty late (end of March) and Syracuse were his last results to come in. They might be needing to put more ducks in rows for ED aid so donât fret. I suspect theyâll notify about ED tuition exchange along with the notices for need-based aid. The âadjustmentâ of his leadership scholarship (due to the TE award) was done at that point, and it showed up in MySlice. It was reduced from half-tuition ~31K to ~20K so it would equal full tuition when stacked on top of TE. The same thing happened for another user on this site.
Ok - thank you so much! This is very helpful.
Those waiting to hear about financial aid packages, inclusive of grant awards, I called the Office of Fianncial Aid and Scholarships this morning and was advised that it will be released later this afternoon with the previously communicated ED decisions. Good luck!
Whew! S24 just opened email after last finals (rough week along). Admitted to Whitman/Newhouse!!! ~$15K merit (hugely thankful!). GPA ~3.9/4.3 SAT ~1400 (submitted). Good demonstrated interest, on campus visit, Zoom interview, etc. Floored!
I should add, very very relieved as well. Very tough semester, tons of AP classes with tough grading and huge workload, slight dropoff in GPA so the delay from Dec 15 and then the acceptance posts from yesterday were building up the stress that he was being deferred which would bring this semester grades under even more scrutiny (like a B+ shouldnt rescind acceptance but could have affected him if deferred to RD!)
Congratulations! Looks like our S24s are in the same programs. Definitely a sigh of relief ahead of the holidays.
Anyone have their financial aid packages posted to MySlice yet? Site shows 2025 description, but the link is not enabled/active yet on our end. I recall in years past, awards rolled out in waves also.
Have they announced Admitted Student Day yet? Trying to figure out our spring break plans.
Nothing yet. Just virtual welcome which are listed in the student application portal. Here is a link to the Universityâs admitted students calendar of events. You can track dates here when they become available.
