Hiiiii!!! I got into the summer musical theatre program for pre-college at syracuse and was hoping someone had info on it. I’m a very serious performer, and am curious about the amount of training we will be receiving on the daily. Thank you!!!

Hello! After finishing the program, I would like to share some things with those thinking about the program in the future. There wasn’t much info regarding the course except for what to pack. regarding the material you should bring, you only really need one monologue. However, being every audition cut you have, as well as full songs of your favorite cuts. You have dance every day, if not double dance. Due to that, you don’t even need to bring anything else but dance clothes. You might want to bring something to wear if you go out or to a show, but that’s about it. You need ballet, jazz, and character shoes (optional). PLEASE bring ballet clothes!!! On the course description it says that the days are 9-4, however, they are 8:30-5. You will be EXHAUSTED by the end of the day. One thing that is a big deal even if it doesn’t sound like it; the stairs going to Day and Flint Hall are INSANE. After counting one day, it’s about 130 steps just to get up the hill to the dorms. The RA’s and the other Dorm staff are not very helpful at all. Not sure if that’s just because they are grad students. For your dorm, you NEED a fan, if not more than one. Also, if you’re from a humid environment you should bring a humidifier or steamer for your voice due to the consistent work, and dryness of NY. The professors were all very accommodating and kind. There was also a TA who was a rising sophomore at SU. She was AMAZING and soooooo helpful. I definitely recommend this program if you are interested in attending Syracuse for MT, or if you’re a rising junior. Hope this helps!
