For those that have gotten “poor” financial aid, did you receive a merit scholarship as well? Just wondering if there’s any kind of correlation…

@ktop3 i am sorry to hear you had to let Syracuse spot go. It’s frustrating to be accepted but the price tag is not doable. Baloney that most colleges try to make it affordable. We are on SU waitlist but doubt if she is accepted we can afford it. Same story for us with SMU/Dallas. Accepted, but at $75k —we got some help but not enough.
@18Su2023 My grandmother was admitted to the hospital around the time I was going to book my flight and hotel (I’m from california), so my family ran into some financial trouble and I made a sacrifice. Unfortunately, I couldn’t compete but fortunately, my grandma’s doing well! Haha
Hi, I’m in a very bad dilema right now, and any advice would be greatly appreciated. I was accepted off the waitlist on May 13th, and I had 10 days from then t accept my spot, by my FA was taking forever to process. Long story short, I called admissions to let them know I still hadnt received my financial aid by that 10 days, and they said that they would gladly note that I was still interested and not withdraw my acceptance off the waitlist. I finally received my FA award on thursday, and on friday I had a chance to talk to my family about money and how much it would cost and I made my decision, however when I went onto MySlice to accept my spot, the Admission Acceptance Form was gone, and now I have no idea what to do. It was after 4:30 so I couldnt call them, and now its the weekend so I have to wait till monday, but the thing is I have to cancel my housing application for the school I put my deposit down at by June 1st, today, otherwise I have to pay the full housing fee for the Fall semester, and that is just not something that my family can afford. If anybody could offer advice or just anything at all it would be greatly appreciated as I really want to go to syracuse, its my dream school.

you should call them up and explain the situation. make sure they understand it is not your fault.
