Syracuse Stereotype

ROFLMAO, now you have really proven how uninformed you are. Since unweighted GPA’s are calculated on a 4.0 scale, to report a 4.2 means BY DEFINITION they are including the Honors/AP scale where an A is worth 5.0, or even 6.0 in some cases. that is why to make a valid comparison, you can only use the unweighted scale, because not all high schools use the same values in their grading system. This is so elementary I am cringing just having to explain it to you. EVERYONE, and I do mean EVERYONE, knows that to compare GPA’s one normalizes them to a scale of A=4.0, B=3.0, etc. etc. You can certainly include B+=3.3, etc., but BY DEFINITION unweighted GPA’s cannot be higher than 4.0. And yes, I checked. Tulane, like almost all other schools, only reports the unweighted GPA. Even you should not be able to look at those numbers and conclude otherwise. To do so would just prove how biased against Tulane you are. Wow, you are embarrassing yourself.

Are you sure you even went to college?

I would normally steer clear of commenting on discussions going back and forth between other people, but I personally feel it is time for the two of you to take this somewhere else, other than on Syracuse’s forum. PM each other, or just stop it.

I think everyone is entitled to write whatever, wherever since it is a public forum and everyone has the same rights as everyone else, so if you must keep it up here, then so be it. Not knowing much about either of you, I don’t have any problem with either of you. It seems obvious that one has a bias for and one has a bias against ANOTHER college. I look forward to reading more about Syracuse but will just ignore the rest, including responses from anyone that feels a need to insult my opinion.

i know this is off topic but, how is GPA done?

i heard 2 different ways but how do youdo it for college?

is it

4=a 3=b 2=c d=1 f=0

or the
4=a
3.7=a-
3.3= b+
b= 2.9
b-= 2.5
etc.

Yeh my dentist when I told him where I was going asked me if I was valedictorian ha ha

kingsta1234 - the universities I have seen do it:

A = 4.000
A- = 3.667
B+= 3.333
B = 3.000
B- = 2.667
C+ = 2.333
C = 2.000
C- = 1.667
D = 1.000
F = 0.000

But there may be other systems, for sure.

i can’t wait to apply!!! i hope i get in!!! :-))))))))))))DDDDD

I just got into Syracuse back in April and Im attending in the fall. Anyone who takes their SAT Stats and uses that against students @ Syracuse doesnt know what theyre talking about. Top schools are decreasing the significance of SATs. I had an 1820 overall with a 3.6 (uw) GPA and im sick of people telling me Syracuse sucks. Go away.

Idk how late i am on this, but that Balzak kid needs to shut the **** up. I personally know two kids in this class that chose SU over NYU film; it has the #1communications school in the world, as recognized by most every publication; It has been consistently ranked among the top 50-75 national universities by U.S. News (#52 in 2009), making it one of the top 2.5% of college/universities in teh country…and it’s #3 in the Big East, fool. What gives you the right to come to this discussion board and blast our school? I guess we’re to infer that you were either rejected from Syracuse or are just an angry kid who nobody cares to listen to, so you’re forced to comment on random message boards.

hehe sammy. I would say it in the same tone you did but I already have my fair share of BS infractions.

does this school have a strong science major?

Yes, Syracuse is strong in sciences. It is a great school for sciences. Students get a lot of individual attention from faculty. The faculty are dedicated to undergraduate education. My brother was a biology major there and is now working on a PhD.
