Syracuse Tuition

I was recently accepted to Syracuse, specifically CAS, for the class of 2021. However due to my parents income I have received no financial aid. I already have a brother in college, and two more to soon be in college as well (one is a junior now). My parents can only afford to give me 15k a year for college, leaving me to come up with 50k that I do not have. Would it be worth meeting with the financial aid at Syracuse to discuss my financial aid? Could they possibly reconsider? Also, are there any good outside scholarships I could apply for?

@cusepls2021 That is unfortunate. I think it would definitely be worth meeting with the financial aid office. That’s what they are there for. Based on a sibling in college, you would think you would have qualified for something. Do not go into big debt to attend Syracuse. Hopefully you have other great choices and you will find a place where you will be happy (and not have too much debt).

Assuming that your FAFSA and CSS were filled out properly the financial aid office already knows your family situation and you do not qualify for aid. You can appeal but it will likely be successful. You didn’t receive any merit aid?

Outside scholarships are usually only for a few thousand dollars and only last one year. the application deadlines were likely long ago.

Ask your guidance counselor if there are any local scholarships and see if there are is a community foundation that may offer grants or scholarships. Also, go online to look for scholarship opportunities. Many are due April 1st, but there are many offered at different dates throughout the year. Good luck!
