I can attend UB for free and probably graduate in 2 years. Or SU where I’ll have to incur approximately 20 thousand dollars in debt by graduation and graduate in 2 1/2 to 3 years.
Is it worth taking on so much debt to attend SU’s entrepreneurship program which is ranked 8th in the country. Or got UB instead?
DO NOT graduate in 2 years, especially if it’s free. Do not graduate (just hold off one or two requirements for your last semester) and just keep taking classes in your major, but at the graduate level. Take classes that complement your major - since you’ll be in business, I strongly recommend classes in statistics and branching off to econometrics and data analytics. Foreign language can be good, especially since Buffalo’s so close to Canada and Quebec. Take advantage of the scholarship to study abroad for one semester junior year, and to spend one semester “away” at another college in the US and/or doing an internship in DC or New York City sophomore or junior year. You can tailor your experiences to your wishes and your needs so that in 4 years you could have added up the equivalent of a BA and a master’s degree AND experential learning via study abroad, study away, and internships.
I wouldn’t go to Syracuse for Entrepreneurship (unless you’re already running a business) because odds are high you’ll be working in another branch of business. Entrepreneurship is a better branch for the graduate level and people who have already started their business. For finance, it could be worth it - it’s worth debating, at least.
