Syracuse University Regular Decision 2021 (& 2022)

on last years thread, people were rejected on 3.30 and 3.31 waitlisted lol :frowning: im just hoping you guys are right with second wave of acceptances

Last year people got accepted last friday and for us it was rejections… Admissions put out a statement that because of winter storms everything was delayed

@mattm12334 check the twitter feed from last year, it should make you feel better

yes @mattm12334 1100 is just way too low and you only have a chance if you have a super unique hook with a low sat. 1300 is much better so you definitely have a greater chance

I dont think 1100 is too low. My counselor said that the average of SAT is 1000

@ryguyee testing is KEY!! Trust me, everyone has good recommendations, gpas, even APs. So imo your act is pretty low, maybe lower than their lower percentile (not sure). So without a great hook or something amazing, I think you’ll have to hold tight and just wait

1240-1270 is AVG (26-27ACT)… the midrange starts at a 24-28 ACT That’s where most kids who attend are

1100 is not low just below average, 1000 is reach

I know 3 kids who were accepted last Friday.

@caasse I wouldn’t say a 26 is low considering the national average is a 21. Once again the midrange starts at a 24-28. I’m on par if anything

i think it was a batch of acceptances and rejections, but it seemed like it was more rejections

If I’m wrong look how there avg Act per year switches between a 26 and 27…

no, you guys are wrong. whoever told you 1000 is average or 1100 is good, was obviously wrong. There’s a reason why you never trust counselors; all they give you is false hopes.
And average compared to what? your school? state? always compare with the middle to higher range, and you’ll get to the right point. Remember, counselors won’t say your school’s testing scores suck or are bad. Judge it for yourself. 1000,1100 even low 1200s are bad. Period.

we just have to wait and see.

@caasse no ur wrong again… the National Avg is a 21… Syracuse has a mid range from 24-28 and you just said you chances are better from the middle to upper part of the midrange… so again how is my 26 low?

1780, 1270, 26

I’m just tired of waiting and not knowing when we’ll all find out. I wish they had a set date they release all their decisions like BU and the Ivy League college’s do

@ryguyee why on earth would you compare with the national avg? If you want to be realistic, compare with the higher percentile. When colleges gets a student with, say, a 1350, they don’t care if they have another student who’s scores are on par, or hitting the range boundaries. However, if they get a student with terrible scores like in 1000s or low, and they have someone hitting the range, only then they’ll choose you.
But there’s also the fact that applications are reviewed holistically, so someone with a 950 but another hook could get in. You never know for sure. But just be realistic with yourself, and always compare with the upper bound because there’s always someone better than you out there. Best of luck

guys listen whatever happens happens, but don’t let people like that talk down to you when they’re wrong… called my score low and then said I was in Mid range like honestly smh

we will hear this week for sure hopefully before friday @atb514
