Syracuse University Regular Decision 2021 (& 2022)

Also there were a lot of students who didnt desereve to get accepted someone with a 1240 SAT and 3.8 gpa all cp classes got in. This is ridiculous, looks like hard work didn’t pay. All in all this is still dissapointing

Wait listed at Arts and Sciences. Strong EC’s, 3.91 uw GPA, 26 ACT, Latino. Stunned and saddened

If someone gets accepted, they deserve it, & congratulations to all who were accepted. If you didn’t get accepted, you may have deserved to be admitted, and you can appeal it, ask for a review of you application and/or why you were denied/wait listed.

i’m confused as to why i was waitlisted to a college i didn’t even apply to. i’m gonna call them lmao

It seems that the college acceptance process is political like everything else, especially for a private institution like Syracuse. There is somewhat of a formula and algorithm at work here. They know their “risk” and who they want to take on. We did not get accepted and that is more than fine by me. Whether it was my daughter’s grades, courses, or SATs, or EFC that didn’t match up to the “formula” doesn’t matter. Syracuse didn’t want her but other top colleges do want her. She’s going to a school that suits her well and is glad to have her. That’s what matters.

Waitlisted for Whitman 1300 sat 3.8 gpa amazing EC (started own international business). So sad Syracuse has been my dream since I could remember. Doing everything I can to be moved from waitlist to accepted

@oldschool93 Well said! That is exactly what I told my son.

@itsmads Read my last post. With your credentials I’m sure you got accepted at other colleges. Go somewhere that wants you off the bat. This waitlisted thing baffles me.

Wondering also how much the new rule of FA affected the admissions process this year. This was the first year you could use prior-prior year tax returns so significantly more students submitted ED applications knowing they would have a FA decision earlier than usual. With more ED applications sent there were fewer spots available to the RD students. Syracuse has NO ED only EA1 and EA2, so they pretty much count on getting a majority of the students that have raised their hands and said, definitively, that they want Syracuse. Either that or they wait to see how their team does in the NCAA tourney anticipating that more students will commit to SU if their team is winning. Either way, the system is wacky to say the least, not just SU

@itsmads I say this to all my friends whose children are just starting this process…Go to the school that WANTS YOU!! There are plenty out there and if you really want to change schools, do your best Freshman year and transfer to wherever you feel you would thrive. But guess what, most end up loving the school they chose.

@bos2nj here’s my take. It seems that the college acceptance process is calculated like everything else, especially for a private institution like Syracuse. There is somewhat of a formula and algorithm at work here. Coming from the insurance world, there is a certain level of “risk” that Syracuse is willing to take on based on the demographics and performance of their potential student pool.

My D did not get accepted to Syracuse and that is more than fine by me. Whether it was my daughter’s grades, courses, or SATs, or EFC that didn’t match up to the “formula” doesn’t matter. Syracuse didn’t want her but other top colleges do want her. She’s going to a school that suits her well and is glad to have her. That’s what matters.

I’m applying for Newhouse photography. If I haven’t received anything yet, am I completely screwed? When should i expect to hear from them?

Accepted on 3/31!

do you hear by email or on the portal?

so no email probably means no??

no email means no decision yet @thess1

YET to hear back. wth

My son was just admitted to the BFA film program with Founders scholarship $20,000 annually. No FA. Applied in September.

Still no word here. So odd
