I haven’t received any decision yet, is that a bad thing?
@josephconrad27 My son doesn’t know yet, but is leaning toward sports management (he’d have to transfer from CAS, but that’s a problem for another day). Yours?
I still haven’t heard either, do you think that means rejection or acceptance or maybe still waitlists???
Waitlist to Whitman. Accepted to Indiana(Kelley, direct admit with petition), Minnesota(Carlson), Ohio State(Fisher), Colorado(Leeds), Wisconsin(Letters and sciences). 3.75 GPA 31 ACT, from a New England prep school. Already sent in my deposit to Indiana so it doesn’t matter, but this still caught me a bit off guard.
applied newhouse, waitlisted Maxwell for political science
GPA: 3.7
ACT: 29
My son was waitlisted to architecture. He looks great on paper (high stats, great extra-curriculars, etc.) Looked like a great match but like many ithers I am seeing we have a relatively low EFC & live out of state…has been accepted to University of PA and Carnegie Mellon with scholarship money so he is disappointed…
Also accepted to Pratt
Waitlisted from Falk. Not even my first choice, it was my 3rd choice after Newhouse. I’m so disappointed it is my top school now I have to put money down at another school :(. I also highly suggest everyone who is sure they are NOT going to Syracuse after today to select to not be put on the waitlist to give other people a shot. We would really appreciate it!!
Keep in mind that Syracuse has always taken demonstrated interest into account. For those with high stats that were unable to visit, did not participate in the online chats, etc. this may have been why you were waitlisted. My S was in the upper middle of their range when he applied last year so he made sure he showed as much interest as possible. If anyone seriously wants to be pulled from the waitlist showing that Syracuse is still your first choice might help. Also, being out of state is not a negative since Syracuse is a private school and prides itself on the geographic diversity of its student body. I have noticed college admissions have been very “spotty” this year. I have been surprised by some of the admissions and rejections I have seen in my own social circle. As hard as it might be to see now, everyone will find their school. I attended my second choice college back in the day and can’t imagine going anywhere else.
@Patchesandangel Your son got into Penn and not Syracuse?.. how is that possible
I have never posted on any online forum such as this before but had to vent in this case. If Syracuse tells you financial aid and EFC have nothing to do with the admission process they are completely full of it. Son just got wait listed at Falk. 4.15 GPA (top 10 in class), 1420 SAT’s, captain of 2 sports and plenty of EC’s. However, with other siblings in school at same time, low EFC. Four other kids in his school got in with significantly lower grades, SAT’s and general credentials but know all of these kids have parents that could afford nearly full boat. If they tell you the process is not based on their bottom line, then they are just throwing you a line of BS. Fortunately got into other schools including some with better reputations. Unfortunately for him though he really loved the Falk School. Time to move on…
Can anyone give me info on the honors program
@Iscrewedupinhs11 only 2 reasons I can think is he only applies for 1 major and architecture5 is highly or $
still waiting here. education major. From competitive high school in MA. Low SAT (1180), 4.2 WGPA, low EFC ($24000)
I never posted on here before either. D was accepted regular decision, VPA. EFC less than $20k, best FA package we received from any school that will allow her to attend.
@those who got waitlisted to the bandier program…a girl at my school got into that program and just committed somewhere else!! Good luck to you rotting for you all❤
I got waitlisted for cs. Very low EFC. Should I just give up? I think they really like people with high incomes
Early this month they asked me to complete financial aid, I later called back saying how I don’t want to be considered for financial aid. I think there might actually be some correlation that if you apply for aid, it seems you have interest in the going to the school, so they take that demonstrated interest in account!
Syracuse admissions process is straight up wack!
I am sorry for wait listing! If you remember me from last week rejections, my son got rejected. We have very high EFC and we don’t qualify for any FA. So, I am not sure if FA is the only driving factor. He did have low GPA relative to most of you and Ok SAT but many ECA, great recommendations, essay and showed a lot of interest including interview that went very well. We applied EDII, he was deferred and now rejected. Really crushed.
