Syracuse University Regular Decision 2021 (& 2022)

Waitlisted to Newhouse, 33 ACT, OOS, 3.97 GPA

applied newhouse ED2, got deferred, waitlisted to arts and sciences undecided. I’m going to ohio state or rutgers now haha fuck syracuse and this bullshit i was qualified for arts and sciences and i get waitlisted :-)))))))))))))

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am not mad about my waitlist at all. Even if I did get accepted, my visit wasn’t very good and what Syracuse charges in tuition vs. the value of the degree I would be getting, it just wouldn’t be worth it so I most likely wouldn’t have attended. Giving up my waitlist spot and going to pick a school that really wants me.

I’m waitlisted at Maxwell for history. Can someone please tell me if waitlisted applicants are eligible for scholarships or grants from the college? My family is in the absolute lowest economic stature, my mom is disabled and my dad is passed, and we barely get by each month so I will get financial aid but how could I apply for loans in July or August? WTH

My daughter waitlist for the College of Arts and Sciences

My son was waitlisted for CAS/Undeclared. Honestly, we’re kind of happy: it was a reach school for him. He will take the waitlist spot and hope for the best; meanwhile, planning on UMass/Amherst! Good luck to everyone here!

@bos2nj thank you!!! i accepted the waitlist position for bandier so i’m hoping it turns out well!!

@laurenm17 Same with my son!! Best of luck! Where else have you applied?

Syracuse was highly selective this year btw

applied to newhouse ED2, got deferred, now on waitlist for School of Information Studies, Information Management and Technology program, whatever that is.

In the same exact boat. Hopefully I see your son at Umass next year! What will he be studying?

@fourteenwords

Waitlisted for Newhouse, 1230 SAT/4.0 GPA.

@Scholar1917 Yes! They absolutely give money to students off the waitlist!! Check past boards, some got big $. Good luck.

So my kid applied RD…First choice dual program Whitman/Newhouse, 2nd choice Whitman. Waitlisted tonight for dual program Whitman/Newhouse and emailed letter makes no mention of 2nd choice Whitman… Will he receive another decision regarding Whitman or is this it!?

@bos2nj Thanks for letting me know. Do they offer grants too to waitlisted acceptances?

My daughter was waitlisted as well, needless to say she is very disappointed. This process has been so stressful!

@scholar1917 Here’s one of the posts I found on another Syracuse CC thread…looks like the answer is YES.
My daughter was waitlisted for the Arch program back in 2012. Her stats were not extremely special but she was one of the top grads in a very small rural NY high school. She felt sooo bummed when she received her waitlist status as you all are. I told her to accept and be patient. I also told her to send a ‘Thank you’ letter addressed to the Associate Dean of Admissions person on the bottom of the official waitlist notice. She composed 4 paragraphs to include any new achievements not available during the initial school application. The final sentence was a statement of desire to attend SU as it was her most desired choice for further education and she would be honored to be selected from the waitlist.

She mailed it out express mail right around this time so it would arrive a few days before the 5/1 deadline which was a Wednesday. On Friday, May 3rd, around 6:00 pm in the evening, an SU student called and asked if she would still like to attend so she could have her status changed to accepted! Of course she answered “YESSSSS!!!”. She was ecstatic.

To this day we are not sure if that mailed letter tipped the scale or not but it was worth the effort. Those who pursue are most often rewarded. Now the financial aid was about a 3-4 week wait game that also had us chomping at the fingers because my income was very low after the economic downturn in 2008. It was still not a guarantee that she would be able to attend as her safety school had already confirmed a great FA package. Eventually, SU came through BIG!!!

My daughter is graduating this coming Fall semester ('16) and has had the most awesome experience at SU. Now get those letters in the mail (overnight) tomorrow to hopefully tip your scale.

Thanks a lot for letting me know!

Wow, thank you for your advice!!!

Waitlisted! But I already picked AU since I got tired of waiting for Syracuse lol
