Hello. Today is the last day for ED2 to Syracuse but my dad doesn’t want me to ED because of the money. I really want to because I am applying as a business major and it’s pretty competitive. Does anyone have any recommendations? Will I get in RD? I’m just worried and I know Syracuse uses rhe CSS so it would probably be cheaper than the other schools I applied to.
Listen to dad - he has to pay.
Getting in, being bound, and your dad not wanting to pay - is a serious issue.
Don’t forget, the school may say he can afford it. But that doesn’t mean he wants to.
You can certainly get in RD - of course.
PS - it’s a need aware school. Not saying they would but if you need too much money, that’s reason to deny you too.
Think about this - from the latest CDS - 21,471 admitted and 4108 enrolled - so less than 20%.
1235 admitted ED - so that means 2900 or so enrolled from RD and 20,000 were admitted RD but less than 1 of 5 RD admits chose to enroll.
Dad isn’t signing the paper anyway (and you should respect that) - and you’ll have every chance to get in RD anyway.
RD vs. ED won’t be why you are denied - assuming you demonstrated interest throughout, etc.
ED is a tool the schools use - it’s to their benefit - not necessarily yours.
Good luck.
Syracuse does not guarantee to meet full need for all accepted students. And they often don’t. Just because a school used the Profile does NOT mean their aid will be more generous. You need to put that notion aside.
Your dad is being financially responsible. He wants you to be able to compare final net costs. That is his family decision, and you need to listen carefully to it.
