SYTYCD anyone??

Loved Jason and Janine. While I thought it was a huge disadvantage for Evan to get a ballroom dance with the much taller Kayla, I thought he did okay. I thought his solo was awesome. Brandon’s solo was marginal. Alot of these contemporary solos just blend together and look the same week after week.
Kupono needs to go IMO.
Liked Debbie Allen as a judge especially her comments about Evan handling his big woman.

I thought the guys number was a hoot with Evan trying to channel his inner African warrior :)

haha I could picture Evan being put into the cauldron of boiling water…with the others dancing circles around him.

I see Randi and Evan going home tonight. I really like Jeanette…or is it Jeanine?? The salsa dancer who can dance anything!!

My daughter and I LOVE this show. She is applying to MT schools right now so of course anything dance related is hot at my house. Loved the HAIR routine last night. How amazing is Melissa? And I really loved Evan’s solo.
I agree keymom - Debbie Allen is a great judge. Hope she will be on more shows this season.

Love Jeanette, janette…so confusing with her name and Janine LOL
the salsa dancer.seems she can do anything they throw at her.Thought she was stunning in her tango number. I can see her jumping over to Dancing with the Stars!
Also enjoy Janine and Melissa.I also dont see the fuss over Kayla but maybe the pros see something we don’t.Randy is the underdog this week,I think, of the girls.
I enjoy Kapono’s quirkiness, and his homemade outfits. I thought his solo last night was so interesting. Was rooting for Evan from the start (soft heart for a Broadway guy…) but he seems outshone bythe other guys and the judges seem to be doing everything in their power verbally to tell America he needs to go…but America keeps voting him through.
I enjoy Brandon and Ade but admire Ade’s powerful partnering abilities more, plus i think his solos are stronger and he has a goofy, lovable personality. Brandon seems to be more full of himself and thats why Mia and others may not have liked him as much in the beginning. Jason is an all around cutie and shines in his solo work and with his new partner this week.
I’m enjoying this season of the show immensely.Talented dancers, and a different feel w/o hip/hop ,poppers, etc being in the finals.Love Cat Deely as a host, she seems to really like the dancers and like her job. Could do w/o Mary’s screaming and her disconcerting resemblance to one of my sister-in-laws! I enjoy Debbie Allen as the third judge, wish she was permanent.

You know, male dancers are called on to be shirtless on a fairly regular basis…Evan should really buff up a bit.

cathymee, Mary is a dead ringer for my cousin, too! Hm, does your sister-in-law happen to live in Florida? :)

Debbie Allen is a great judge. They couldn’t use her last year because one of the dancers was a student from her dancing school so she was biased. No such problem this time, and I’m so glad. She always has something kind to say, as well as something constructive.

I think Randi will be going home tonight. Her paso didn’t impress and she seems to be the weakest female of the five. Though Evan’s solo was amazing, he can’t seem to carry that special talent over to the other styles of dance. So I’m kind of hoping he’s out tonight, too, but I won’t mind if Kupono leaves.

lol patsmom, no sis-in-law lives in NYC…and the resemblance is from …ahem…about 20 years ago…

I just read that Dialidol is showing that Randi and Evan had the most busy signals in the voting last night, indicating that the 2 of them were the highest vote getters and won’t be leaving tonight. It’s looking like Kayla and Jason, according to them. Nigel won’t be a happy camper if that’s true…

Kupona is not a sturdy presence, too floppy in the African dance…though he seems to be having fun. Something about Kayla is rather vacuous. Evan’s solo was outstanding, such a stylist. Jeanette is super. Randi does not have a classical dance body…hard for her to pull off some of the lines…but to critique her for the wig…bet she had nothing to say about that! No clear favorites this year, no mesmerizing characterizations like some last year. Debbie Allen is a bit hyper, puts on quite a show. Tabitha and Napoleon are favorites, as judges and choreographers. Mary is Mary and Nigel is Nigel…what else is there to say? Cat Dealey is a major spirit…what a wonderful job she does…I would love to look like her for one day in my life!

I love this show, these young aspiring dancers.

proper cuts, in my opinion
how surprised was Evan not to be in the bottom 2 !!! as much as the judges criticize him, the public votes for him.
the Brandon/Ade moment was awkward, both thought they were the safe one.
some of the solos seemed repackaged from the night before…same music, same costumes even.

No question that the solos were from the night before, and that’s understandable. After all, the solos last night wouldn’t change anything. They’re working so hard on the dances that do count; why would they waste time learning and rehearsing a piece that doesn’t count?

I was very pleased that Evan wasn’t in the bottom; I think he got shafted in both the dances and in the choice of partner. How long does it take a woman to learn to dance in heels? And suddenly he’s put into heels to do a waltz! His balance had to be completely thrown off. And then trying to “channel his inner African warrior”?!!! I think people felt for him, and loved the fact that he still had a sense of humor about it and kept that twinkle in his eye. And no one does what he does better. His solo was great. I really like him.

I agree; proper cuts. But I do have to say that Kayla really annoys me!

Who’s the ballet dancer? I’ve been wanting Evan and the ballet dancer to go home for weeks. Couldn’t believe Ade was at the bottom. I guess I’m going to have to start actually voting.

Melissa is the ballet dancer. (She annoys my daughter, for some reason.)

Am I mistaken, or do the dancers randomly pick their dance style each week?

Conspiracy theorists (myself included) believe that the drawings for partner and dance style aren’t random at all, but are rigged by the producers.

Evan = the “cutie pie” factor keeps him going. Happens every year. But you know, I find myself cheering him on. The ballet dancer is Melissa. I like her.

I alway DVR it so I can fast-forward through Mary Murphy if needed.

Well, I thought it was mighty coincidental that Melissa happened to be the one doing the ballet number (the first time it was ever done on the show). It needs to be fair, and it should be random for everyone or no one. It makes a difference–for some of them, at least–if they are dancing in their particular style.

Wasnt the Romeo and Juliet number en pointe? I don’t think it’s physically possible (at least without major injuries) to just learn pointe in a couple of days.

Brandon went to the same dance magnet school (Coral Reef Senior High in Miami) where my daughter will be a senior next year. Everytime I saw him dance, I was just blown away. He is amazing!!!GO BRANDON!!!

They never show the dancers drawing a style from a hat like they did the partners this week. They don’t really say how the dance types get selected that I can tell. But, the Romeo and Juliet could have been done without the en pointe. It would have been different is all.
