Oh Cat. You really need a stylist.
I dont like Mia Michaels. I remember she was rude to at least one of the contestants. To refresh your memory, here is a quote from a SYTCD reviewer dated July 2009. You can google grannysuesnews. As a judge, she should offer some constructive criticisms.

LOL! I haven’t really watched this season, but thought I’d watch the finale. They went for one hour and Nigel announced “we’re taking a break while the President speaks - please come back afterwards and we’ll continue!”. Unusual! Loving all the numbers (really liked the opening number) - looks like I missed a great season!

Well, I’m half happy with the results. Can’t complain.

Mia. Ugh. Talented choreographer but nasty human being. She treated my beloved Danny Tidwell horribly, and she basks in praise in a most unpleasant way. Hope she never comes back.

I think I finally figured out my issue with Jasmine after watching so many clips tonight: Those very long legs and arms throw her proportion out of whack and interrupt her lines. (I actually have zero dance vocabulary and probably have no idea what I’m talking about, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.) I always feel that with a great dancer you could take still photos of every moment in a routine and there would be beauty in the body’s formation in each one. With Jasmine, I feel like many of those photos would reveal some awkwardly placed limbs and unattractive angles.

I had to laugh at how the losers got rapidly shuffled off the stage by an anonymous employee while clutching a ginormous bouquet. I guess there’s no graceful way to handle that moment, but it must be painful to be the center of attention one minute and excess baggage the next.

They never mentioned any kind of prize that came with winning “America’s Favorite Dancer.” Do the winners get money or cars or contracts or mirror-ball trophies or anything?

I thought the same thing about the losers. It couldn’t be more awkward.

I liked Jasmine and in fact preferred her initially over Amy because of her long limbs and ridiculous extension. Amy is so compact and muscular and standing still does not look especially elegant to me. But wow, can she dance. I was really happy to see her win.

I was fine with the winners, but I was admittedly on the Jasmine train. For me she just looks natural when she dancers. I like that her expressions, again for me, don’t seem pulled or fake. She draws me completely in.

I have a love hate with Mia. In addition to the incidents already recounted, remember how awful she was to Heidi? What a turn of events that the dance she was ragging on her about turned out to be one of the best all-time dances on that show The Bench. I love Mias work but not the way those dancers were treated. Add me to the Danny Tidwell love fest as well. I’ve pressed repeat on his dances so many times over the years my laptop is broken! He is the allstar I want most to reappear.

So…got home from yoga at 9 am, all ready to watch the ENTIRE finale. My DVR got 1 hour of SYTYCD, 10 minutes of the President and that was it. I figured out what had happened in time to see the Favorite Female Dancer named live [was it actually live at that point? did they all just sit around during the speech?], but not the Favorite Male.
