<p>I just have to keep reminding myself that the winner is ‘America’s favorite dancer’, not America’s best dancer. Then it all makes sense.</p>
<p>Okay, just watched Cyrus/Comfort, Witney/Chehon and Eliana/Cole on You Tube. I could live the rest of my life without seeing Witney run her fingers through her hair again.</p>
<p>I’ve been thinking about the difference between SYTYCD, where I pretty much fall in love with several dancers every year, and the kind of reality shows where there is intentional back stage/house drama, like America’s Next Top Model. I am so glad that they show the dancers in a positive light on SYTYCD. My hope for the contenstants on all of the “talent” type of reality shows is that the exposure will lead someone to hire them, but it would be difficult for me to want to hire the “be-yotch” of a show.</p>
<p>Cristina A cracked me up wanting to throw pencils through the giant holes in Cyrus’ ears.</p>
<p>I still don’t think this year’s dancers are of the same caliber as some previous seasons. Cheon and Eliana have excellent technique, but the others - bah. And the choreography has been blah (last week was an exception, IMO). Funny about Tyce - my D has worked with him and apparently he’s the same in real life as he is in person - pompous, arrogant and utterly dismissive of his dancers.</p>

<p>It went to Chehon. Then Nigel comments to Witney that Jean-Marcs choreography was more on saving and protecting Chehon to show his lifting ability and great strength and less focus on his feet and hips. I wonder why he didnt say exactly the same comment to Cyrus. See my post #163. In that post, I said Cyrus hardly danced at allhe just lifted his partner here and there and some poses and 2 seconds of popping.</p>
<p>When a shows title is SYTYCD I would think the show is showcasing a dancers versatility in various dance styles. This is not the case with Cyrus so the show should just be renamed to Americas Favorite Dancer so viewers like me expecting to see a combination of exemplary dancing technique and versatility and stage presence are not disappointed. </p>
<p>I guess some agree with me because the ratings were down again 7% from last week.</p>

<p>I like Tiffany. I prefer her over (gasp!) Eliana. Eliana seems to always dance slow for me all the time. I have never seen her do a fast number that is impressive. Her hiphop routine last night was not hard-hitting at all. </p>

<p>Actually should be called Nigel’s Favorite Dancer. His triumphant grin when Cole was eliminated over Cyrus was super annoying.</p>
<p>I’ve felt for weeks that Cyrus would win since he’s obviously a judge’s and fan favorite. There have certainly been male hiphop/break/etc. dancers in past years who were better than Cyrus at the other genres. I wonder what he’ll be dancing in the finale, although it probably doesn’t matter.</p>
<p>I have believed from the get go that Cyrus would win. Whether part of it is a joke with the votes or the people who vote just like him so much for some reason. His ears gross me out by the way. What happens when he comes to his senses somewhere down the road and he’s ruined his ear lobes?</p>
<p>I like both girls. I prefer Tiffany, but have no issue with Eliana winning either. I think Chehon has shown tremendous growth the past few weeks and it will be a shame when he loses to the guy they stick in the back in group numbers, or off to the side or hide him somewhere. Let’s see him get ballroom and do ballroom or some other genre and have to acclimate like the other dancers.</p>

<p>Re: the ear gauges, a teenager at our HS did that to his ears and according to my D, he had to have the distended earlobes surgically removed after he came to his senses.</p>
<p>Overall I agree the caliber of dancers this season is not as high as some others. A friend on the west coast’s son is a professional dancer - high profile featured dancer with several really big, world touring entertainers. She said many working dancers will not audition because they have to give up their current job for it and sign a contract to be sytycd property, exclusively, for fairly lengthy period, at least seems so at 18 or 20 for a dancer who is already working steadily.</p>
<p>Just a reminder that the final performance show is on Tuesday (tomorrow) this week. I’m guessing the results will be on Wednesday?</p>
<p>I absolutely loved Chehon and Eliana’s ballet duet from The Nutcracker. Guest judge Rob Marshall said it best when he said ballet “separates the men from the boys” and how versatile Eliana is. Eliana just may be the best female dancer they have ever had on the show. It will be a shame if she isn’t the (female) winner but, regardless, she will have a very promising career.</p>
<p>the results will be next week . If Eiana and Chehon dont win I will be very disappointed- the other two just dont measure up .</p>
<p>I thought it was interesting that Eliana said what was obvious to everyone, that she was hindered by her partnership with Cyrus. Thank goodness the judges saved her several times earlier in the season. IMO in future seasons, whichever girl gets paired with the b-boy should have an automatic pass until the pairs are broken up. </p>
<p>I’m not a Cyrus fan, but I thought it was really crappy of Nigel, after aggressively promoting him all season, to announce tonight that he won’t be voting for him.</p>

<p>I could not agree more, LasMa, but humiliating him the way he did could quite possibly give him a boost in votes he otherwise would not have gotten.</p>

I’m sure that was precisely Nigel’s intention. He’s a devious soul, and it’s been clear since day one that Cyrus was the producers’ pick to win–this last trick ensured it, as voters no doubt rushed to Cyrus’ defense. Not the first time Nigel has pulled this sort of thing. And note that Cyrus was paired with the ever popular Twitch in a crowd pleaser in the final spot. That was a huge gift. This is my big issue with the show, much as I love it–the huge amount of producer manipulation in what dances the contestants have to perform (Chehon got three Latin ballroom pieces, when they were clearly his weakest area), how they are paired (Cyrus was originally paired with Eliana, the strongest female dancer, to prop him up) and where in the lineup they appear.</p>
<p>I thought that the pole routine with Eliana and Tiffany was fantastic. But, as fantastic as Tiffany is, the difference in ability and talent between her and Eliana was highlighted in that routine. Eliana is beyond amazing.</p>
<p>I gave all 5 of my votes to Eliana. I think I voted. After it said “successfully posted to your timeline”, there was nothing on my Facebook home page.</p>
<p>Okay, just watched the three dances y’all have mentioned. Loved the Nutcracker. Pole dance:sorry Tiffany fans, but Eliana looked like the All Star and Tiffany looked like the contestant. (I know that Eliana has experience in this genre.) Twitch and Cyrus - amazing.</p>

<p>I agree with what everyone has said about Nigel’s attempted manipulation of Cyrus’ vote. How disingenuous to lavish praise on him all these weeks, then tell him after his final performance that he won’t get your vote. I’m sure Cyrus’s fans will make sure he wins after that.</p>
