<p>Tough decision on which girl went home. I think Witney will be out soon enough, though, particularly if she remains in the bottom next week and has to perform a solo again where ballroom dancers seem to be at a disadvantage. The surprise for me last night was Lindsay who was paired with Jacob (one of the all-time best SYTYCD dancers ever imo) in that silhouette number. I thought he would completely outshine her but she really held her own. They both looked amazing together and had very similar body types.</p>
<p>I agree about Eliana. For me, she seems to be this season’s equivalent of last season’s winner Melanie.</p>
<p>I was glad they gave Eliana Alex as her partner. They all “act” like such good sports about their partner assignments, but it must have been agonizing for some of them. OTOH, Cyrus has shown up and put out, surprisingly well. She probably helped him through the first weeks. The intensity with which he watches and listens to the judges’ critique is endearing. He will not win, but he has done far better than anyone could have imagined.</p>
<p>My fave Audrey is gone. At least Tiffany is still there. Except for Season 7s Lauren my pick never wins. Danny lost to Sabra, Kayla lost to Jeanine, Kathryn and Jakob(!) lost to Russell … </p>
<p>Kathryns Bollywood almost made me forget Joshua and Katees Bollywood (Season 4).</p>
<p>While Nigel said last night Eliana is his favorite I would think his favorites are the ballroom dancers by the way hes been propping them up for the past episodes. Based on the individual routines, I do see the reason why he picked Witney over Audrey: spicy hot over sugary sweet. </p>
<p>Its funny how Nigel complained several times in previous episodes to Damiean (?) about his feet and yet Cyrus is forgiven for all these flaws. If you watch the routine at least 3x, I really didnt see any dancing from Cyrus except for a couple of seconds that looked like some popping moves. It was mostly lift partner here and lift partner there and a lot of awkward poses. </p>
<p>But what Nigel wants Nigel gets. Viewers can have a say on the matter too by not watching. Last nights show garnered only 4.5 million viewers compared to last weeks 5.4 million. What a huge drop!</p>
<p>^^^I thought the same thing when Nigel didn’t crticize Cyrus’ feet after he kept complaining about Darean’s feet. I also didn’t think Cyrus had done much more in the routine than lift his partner. I’ve got a funny feeling, though, that Cyrus is going to win favorite male dancer.</p>
<p>I always cringe when they repeat “America’s favorite dancer,” since they seem to be saying the show is not honoring quality, talent and excellence, but… popularity. Sigh.</p>
<p>Of course they are “honoring quality, talent and excellence” as well as passion for dance: that is how the contestants are chosen to start with!! And they get the ride of a lifetime on this show. They also have to have personality and “charisma” (can’t think of a better word right now) to get people at home to actually vote for them! I think it’s a perfectly valid format.</p>
<p>I will hate on Cyrus for you! I just can’t understand when so many other amazing dancers have left that he is still around. It is possible that they think they can cover all the bases, hoping for a technically brilliant female and him as a popular, likable guy.</p>
<p>By pitching the show as selecting “America’s Favorite Dancer,” they can cater to the ratings/audience favorites. With that in mind, “bad feet” are clearly less tolerable in a dancer who does not have Cyrus’s heartwarming, from the street to Hollywood sort of story. I like Cyrus. He’s engaging and terribly likable. I think he looks pretty good (except the ear things) and imagine how great he might be if he’d had the years of dance lessons some others have. But still–he’s not nearly the best male dancer on the show.</p>
<p>My daughter, who is a technically trained dancer, really, really likes Cyrus. I think it’s because she understands how very difficult it is for him to do what he is doing and be where he is with NO training. When all his friends dropped out without even trying. </p>
<p>I don’t think he will make it to win and I doubt if his being there will prevent anyone else from actually winning—they may go home a week earlier, but it’s entertaining and engaging to watch him compete and just enjoy learning all he can learn.</p>
<p>Yes I think Cyrus is engaging too, but as far as a male who is not a professional dancer (as most of the top 20 usually already are), Cole is more entertaining in my opinion.</p>
<p>My complaint is the way Nigel stacks the deck. They didn’t use to do that. Ryan in season 1 (who later won ABDC with Quest Crew which was great) had no training whatsoever, and he was in a tux doing ballroom repeatedly.</p>
<p>We were moving D into her apartment on Wednesday so I was only able to see a few dances (while ironing curtains!). I still need to watch the whole show. Jakob Carr was back?</p>
<p>We just squealed when we saw Alex and with whom he was paired.</p>
<p>Neil was in *Bring it On *when it was in Dallas. D and I were like “there he is” “there he is” every time he was on stage. I love it when alums are hired for non-SYTYCD work. We watched the number from Newsies from the Tony awards multiple times.</p>
<p>You probably already know that Adechike (sp) has joined the cast of Fela.</p>
<p>There were no surprises on who was in the bottom 4 from last week on tonight’s show and who the judges sent home. My top 3 are Eliana, Tiffany, and Chehon. They are definitely in a class by themselves with Eliana probably the favorite still. Until tonight, I was not aware that Eliana is a member of NYC’s Joffrey Ballet Company. Both her and Chehon’s solo (and also pair) performances tonight were just amazing and Tiffany is so enjoyable to watch as well. I’d be happy to see any of these 3 in the final.</p>
<p>I thought last night’s choreography was the best of the season. Loved the tango with Cheon. Personally, Tiffany is my favorite. Will was the only guy with personality and now he’s gone. :(</p>
<p>I was getting tired of Will’s hambone antics although I find his story quite compelling. I think it’s going to be - should be - Chehon and probably Eliana. The choreography was great, another pretty light routine for Cyrus of course. I’m sorry to see Lyndsay go she’s adorable.</p>
<p>I admit that I still have a hard time remembering which one is Witney and which is Lindsay. And ditto Tiffany and the other dark haired girls. On the top 20 episode, I remember being surprised that they had 2 blonde ballroom girls, multiple little dark haired girls, etc. I knew it would be hard for me to tell them apart.</p>
