<p>Helloooooo there Chance thread! This has to be the most tense thread on this site. So, uh, why don’t you chance me or something? Or rate me as an applicant.</p>
<p>Where I’m thinking of applying:
Top LACs - think along the lines of Amherst, Williams, etc
Ivies - who isn’t? Most likely will not be applying to the Southern Ivies though.
UCs - my local backup. The lowest UCs I’ll be applying to will be Davis and UCSD.
And maybe a select few others.</p>

(A few other English schools, but those are the big names)
Hong Kong University - I am in a situation where I pay as an international for one year, and as a resident for the rest.</p>
<p>I am a history/political science major, with a leaning towards law school.</p>
<p>STATS (What you came for, anyway):
GPA (Sem1/Sem2): 4.0/4.0 (Freshman), 3.7/4.0 (Soph), 3.83/3.83 (Junior)
Weighted: 4.6+. I don’t even need to average it.
Class rigor: Max # of classes all four years. 4 AP classes and an Honors this year, followed by 7 AP classes Senior year
SAT: 2280 - 790 CR, 690 M, 800 W (definitely retaking), followed by a 2110 - 670(!) CR, 700 M, 740(!) W (you might be thinking, what the hell happened?! March SAT’s ambiguous CR happened, and a short essay for W.)
ACT: 33, not submitting
APs: Human Geo (9th, 5), Euro (10th, 5), USH, Chem, Lang, Psych (all 11th, easily predicted 5s), Gov/Comp, Physics C:EM, Lit, Macro/Micro Econ, World, Latin, Calc BC (12th)
ECs: Hoo, boy.
- Small community center, working with children; 5 years of working there, with 4 summers working as the leader of the small group of teenage interns. (This is my main EC, if you couldn’t tell. Well over 700+ hours working here.)
- Speech and Debate, Varsity, 3 years.
- Latin Club, President 1 year
- Mock Trial, 1 year
- Peer Tutor, 1.5 years, and currently running for president!
- Peer Mentor, 1 year, soon to be 2nd year
- School Honor Society - .5 year, hopefully running for positions
- Science Research Program, 1 year
- JSA, 1 year</p>
<p>Etc:
- Won a local essay contest hosted by the Sons of the American Revolution, 1st place, but lost out at the state level.
- Traveling as part of an exchange program to China over this summer.</p>
<p>Essays: Will talk about how I was almost a delinquent in middle school, and how working at the community center and dealing with children has made me into a better person - model student, sociable, outgoing, etc. (Works in my EC, my skills, and my character.)
Recommendations: Should be excellent. I’m friendly with all my teachers. It’s actually kinda difficult for me to pick who I want to ask for a recommendation, actually…</p>
