Looks like the poor information technology job market has finally caused effects in undergraduate admissions. CS is now one of the easier engineering majors to be admitted to at UCLA (7.2% for 2025, compared to 3.1% for 2023). Additionally, there has been a more than 40% reduction in applicants to CS (6,805 for 2025 vs 11,939 for 2023).
While this is only one school, I can imagine a similar trend nationwide. Good news for CS applicants!
