I scored a 640CR on my December SAT and want to bring this up to around a 720 or so. My score report told me that I had missed 3 fill ins, and 8 passage based readings.

This is what I’m currently doing:
1 or 2 CR sections, carefully reviewing each question I got wrong, and all questions that I found difficult
Making flash cards of all terms that I do not know from these sections
Studying 10-20 terms per night from Direct Hits

Do you guys recommend any tweaks to this plan? Reading is a bit difficult because I’m also juggling my junior year courseload.

If my SAT is in March, and I do this 5 out of 7 days a week, will I be able to push my score around 720?

If you miss so many on paragraphs (I missed about 3 also), look at what types of problem you are missing. If it’s about themes or fact recall, check your reading method. If it’s like analysis or implied message, then I suggest reading more would help.

Fill-ins are never a sure thing, vocabulary building takes time. Study as much as you can

The majority of my passage mistakes deal with tone and implied message. Vocabulary within the passage and in the question also trips me up.

However, I did not go into the Dec test knowing that recall questions restated the words in the passage so I think I have made progress in that respect.

yea I agree tone and theme are very ambiguous things, as they appear.

Takes some practice to get use to. I too, am getting used to it.

bump! any suggestions?

tone and implication and other broad questions require practice. SAT CR is different from conventional reading so a few practice tests will get u into the mindset to do these problems. Eventually you will start picking the correct answer without much thought. And also remember that you have to walk in there w/o any outside info, all the answers can be found in the passage. Even when its asking for themes, tone and what not. Most importantly, stick to your studying. Everything will work out
i went from getting 8 wrong to 3 wrong on the passage based questions.
