Ok. Here is the one page I had bookmarked earlier:
TAG 2015 rules for UCD.

Under “H. Courses at CCC”, it mentions waiving course requirements that are non-articulated.

Under College of Bio Sciences it says at the end it is recommended to get as many pre-reqs done as possible so you don’t have to do them at UCD. That doesn’t seem to be saying everything 100% has to be done. (There was also a page on math - maybe it’s buried on this page - but you don’t seem to need it.)

These are TAG rules by College. So I am not sure how it plays out with specific major:

Someone posted the page to the new UCB psych requirements and it said Stats with Discrete Math or Calc.

Oh wow. Thanks Lindy. It’s nice that it specifically says that. I think they’d be pretty shocked to see that 95% of the pre reqs weren’t articulated. I’m scared that they might not really look into it.

This says 3 classes are required to complete the lower division requirements, but I think only one class is needed for admission. The others can be completed once there.

I have to be honest, I think UCD is an easier UC to navigate than UCSB. And I am including this link, the subject of which you need to incorporate into your additional comments within the application:

@Bunessa what exactly are you majoring in at UCD? Because the B.S. in Psychology (Biology) lists four courses - 2 psych, 1 statistics, then 1 science-related from a list.

It would seem you could do at least Intro Psych, statistics, and a science.

Interesting articles Lindy. I wish I could see the entire list of CCCs that had the lowest numbers. I know that my current one has had 0 the past 2 years I’ve been here. I’ll definitely be including that in my additional comments.

Really?! No physics and chem sequences? I probably didn’t bother to look because a Psych BS at every other school has A LOT of prep. I have Psych/Stats/Bio 1 and soon Bio 5 (Physiology). I’m gonna go look at that. You’re the best.

Another article I just read (I’m always reading articles) was about double majors, but it applies here. One reason it takes so many ppl longer to graduate (5-6 years) is often because of double majors and they don’t do a lot to help ppl with jobs. A suggestion was instead of doing 5/6 yrs on a double major, do one major, then 1-2 years for a masters.

So I think that philosophy could be good here. So, yes! (But will pre-med be as good as a master’s instead. I know nothing about pre-med.)

Well that I don’t know. I know nothing about pre-med. I assume on the psych home page they must have some path outlines for those wishing to be a psychiatrist. I would start there. It may be you need a Ph.D.

BTW, I now see all those math req. I forgot to scroll down, hee hee.

If you can’t finish the pre med requirements, you could finish what you are missing at a CC afterwards (as long as it the whole series) or you could enroll in a post bacc program. Keep in mind, post bacc programs are expensive and difficult to get into good ones.

Also, this is kind of out of left field, but cognitive science is a growing field - it’s basically neuroscience. Maybe combine psych with the neuro/cog sci angle…

There’s some hot shot prof at UCSB in the graduate division who’s a big neuroscience muckity muck. I think it’s a master’s program…

This is the guy - Michael Gazzaniga. As far as I am concerned, he is a rock star. I would love to take classes with him.
Google his name plus video - he’s got some cool videos on youtube.

Ooh. I go to Yuba but there’s like 4 little campuses other than the Marysville one. No one ever transfers anywhere. :o

I don’t think most med schools would like if I took everything at a CC and how expensive post-bacc might be is scaring me.

I wouldn’t have minded being a cog sci major if I was able to take the pre reqs for it. I’ve looked into it, as it’s basically the same as any other heavy science/math major – impossible for me. D:

Does anyone think there’s any way I could do the chem/calc/physics sequences while doing my Psych BA if I got into UCLA/UCB? It would be hard turning down those schools. I’m now leaning toward Davis because it has a program I could possibly get into.
