TAG HS College Class Question

Hey, this has probably been asked at least a hundred times by now… but here’s the situation: in my senior year of high school, I ended up bombing the Fall term of Math Analysis, so to make up for it, I was allowed to take a 3 credit intro to business class through a college. Because it’s on my high school transcript, do I need to report it on the TAG as well? I didn’t and I’ve submitted but while there’s still time left I wanted to check. I asked something similar of my counseling office about a class I took online through BYU (I didn’t know about their… notorious rep at the time) this was for getting grade-smacked by a semester of Algebra II/Trig, the class ended up going way over my head, and the counselor said since it was on my HS transcript that it wouldn’t be required. This is similar, I hope?

Huh? I wasn’t asked for any HS grades on my TAG.

^I shoulda been clearer, I took a college class to replace a HS grade while I was in my Senior year. Because it’s on the HS transcript (along with a 3 credit Algebra II class from BYU) I wasn’t sure if I had to report it on the TAG along with my other college classes or if it would matter because it was being used as a HS class. It’s kinda too late to do anything now but I was going with “no” (the main reason I even thought about it was I took the Intro to Business class at the same CC I’m at now so it appears on my transcript).

It probably is technically required since you did take it at a CC. Is it not on your college transcript at all, though? If not, I doubt anyone is ever going to realize it anyway. UCI did request my high school transcripts last year, which I thought was odd since I didn’t input them anywhere on my app.

Well then I’d better find a way to update the TAG past the deadline eh? laughs I seriously doubt they’d penalize me if I had to add it, I got a B in the course so not adding it actually does more harm to me than good, it seems like it’d be more dishonest for me to assume they wanted it and put it in there anyway just to give myself that tiny little grade boost. It does appear on my college transcript through West Valley but I always discounted it because it was taken for HS (and my HS transcript would reflect it)

Yeah you’re supposed to input every college course you took, and most definitely if it’s on your college transcript. It doesn’t matter if you took it to count toward a high school class, it’s still something you took at a CC.

That said, the TAG app isn’t really important anyway. It’s just a way for you to have peace of mind that you’ve met the requirements without having to wait until March and for the University to know how many TAG people to expect. Make sure you do list it on the UC app, though. You’ll have to turn in your transcripts once you accept an offer of admission and the last thing you want is them having issues with you not listing a class on your transcript.

^Yeah, I see my good counselor in like… 7 and a half hours so she can clarify on that… I wonder about the BYU one too, I don’t even know how that one worked cause I think it was through some kind of specialized program. Oh well, even if I have to include it too the joke’s on them cause BYU doesn’t like my kind. It’s still less annoying than dealing with West Valley’s unique Stafford Loan procedure (which the Dean told me today is specifically made difficult to discourage us from taking any out so you know, Catch-22 style burecratic fun). Thanks for your help.

Haha for sure.
