Tagging screename with multiple words and spaces

How do you tag a screename that is SEVEN words long with spaces between each word? I tried putting it in quotes but that didn’t work.

And really…why does this forum even allow folks to have seven word long screennames?

@thumper1 Replace the space with %20. eg: @Hopefully%20I%20Don%27t%20Fail%20Life%20dear%20god

Good question. @CCadmin_Sorin ?

Just adding…use of the ‘ screwed this up too. Needed to do %27 before the T in Don’t.

I finally cut and lasted what @skieurope did!

Type this:

@“Example user name with spaces”

to get this:

@“Example user name with spaces”

Or to use the example in reply #1, type this:

@“Hopefully I Don’t Fail Life dear god”

to get this:

@“Hopefully I Don’t Fail Life dear god”

@ucbalumnus I tried the quotation marks and it didn’t work on the thread.

@“Hopefully I Don’t Fail Life dear god”

See…all i get in blue is Hopefully.

Use the double quote that is part of the 7-bit ASCII character set. I.e. the following:

"

Note that there is only one double quote character in the 7-bit ASCII character set.

The double quotes you used in reply #6 are the non-ASCII left double quotation mark and right double quotation mark, shown below:

“ ”

https://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/quotes.html describes the various different quote marks. Only the quote mark listed as Unicode U+0022 or ASCII 0x22 in the table will have the desired effect shown in reply #4.

Well…then really using double quotes won’t work for some of us. Right?

Anyway…I was ble to copy and paste what was done upthread here.

Realistically…this is silly to have to do, and could be avoided IF CC didn’t allow spaces or characters in the screenname.

If you use the “old” ASCII double quote (Unicode U+0022 or ASCII 0x22) that is the usual one found on your keyboard, then it should work fine. Not sure what browser or editor you are using that put the “new” fancy ones in their place, which seem like you have to go out of your way to use.

@ucbalumnus

I’m using an iPad. I don’t have that option…at all.

You actually do. On the keyboard tap 123 then tap and hold “ and slide straight up to ".

Ah…thanks @vonlost. But really…it will be better if spaces and characters are not allowed in screennames!
