Do any of you tailgate and if so, what are your go-to foods? I’m stuck in a rut of meatballs, pulled pork etc. DH gives me a hard time about bringing a grill - too much work etc. I try to bring food I can prepare in advance and keep warm, although that didn’t work very well this weekend. I like the idea of tailgating, but somehow the reality just ends being so much work.
Is there a way to transport food and keep it warm for hours? I have some of those hot packs and thermoses and sometimes they work better than others.
Chicken wings cooked in advance and served at room temperature?
Chili can be also made in advance & put into thermoses.
I also put anything on a stick, like antipasto: cherry tomatoes, olives, mozzarella balls, cukes, cooked tortellini, Basil leaves, etc.,etc.,etc. and thread on sticks like kabobs.
Boneless chicken breasts in a crockpot with a jar of green salsa poured over the top. Cook 6-8 hours, shred and serve with room temperature flour tortillas and a couple of sides like shredded cheese, veggies and sour cream.
Dressed up baked beans in a crockpot with chunks of good hot dogs or kielbasa.
I’d think you could do chili or other thick chunky soup in a crock pot and then just bring the whole pot wrapped in a blanket. Some crusty bread on the side, cheese or other toppings for those that like it. I have a friend who serves this sort of stuff in mugs - though she also provides a spoon.
