Tailgate

I know that “Duke Tailgate” was cancelled in 2010, but do students still hang out and tailgate before football/basketball games? Thanks

Old Tailgate for football was cancelled. Duke is now putting on “New Tailgate” which (from what I’ve heard) is not nearly the same thing. New Tailgate involves hanging out in K-Ville where they have music and face painting and space/grills available for groups who want it. That’s for football games. For basketball games, all the students have to line up prior to the game for hours upon hours in K-Ville, so yes, there is still hanging out there.

Hey so its in main quad and there are groups with tents and a DJ and there’s frisbee cornhole and drinking

Easiest explanation:

The messy bacchanalia that was once was “Tailgate” is no more.

What we have now is closer to the traditional experience of “tailgating”: grilling, corn hole, drinking, etc. “Tailgating” is associated with football and occurs on both the main quad and K-ville. Similar activities occur before basketball games but are mostly restricted to K-ville.

Oh, how times have changed since 2010.
