Take a Chance?

I really want to audition for NYU, but the price of the school is very expensive, and I don’t know if I should bother auditioning if I may not be able to afford it.
Do I go ahead and audition, either get in and MAY not be able to afford it or get rejected.
or
DON’T audition, but always wonder “What if?”

I’m ready for rejection, as I do not believe I have the amazing talented and amazing academics to get me in. If I get accepted but can’t go, I will always wonder “what if” I were able to afford it and went?

If I don’t audition, I’ll wonder “what if” I auditioned and did get in?

I don’t know if I should go ahead and audition and just take a chance. Either way I’ll always wonder, right? So yes, audition? or No? I would really like some advice please, as I am caught dead smack in the middle.

As long as you realize that your ability to attend is based on whether the financial package offered is enough, sure, go ahead!

Gaga…By all means apply! I had the same concern last year, and am now a student with nearly a full scholarhsip at Cap 21 in NYU Tisch. NYU does have scholarships, so be sure to audition, because I got a large scholarhsip base off of talent.

in regards to the binding early decision for NYU Tisch, what happens if you are not offered a financial package that allows you to afford the school? Financial aid is a big necessity for me, although it doesnt have to be a full ride, In order to go i would need a fair amount.

Go for it, they were very generous with financial aid allowing our Dd to attend. Living expenses are a problem, but she LOVES it and we would sell blood to keep her there. She almost didn’t apply as it was the first school we looked at and it was too perfect, then she psyched herself out, but after the audition which she felt was entirely different from all of the others, ( they really asked about her rather than just having her perform) she knew she had to go there…

thiisismegan – If you cannot afford to attend you probably should not attend ED. Twill will here have been many conversations on CC about this. If you apply ED the expectation is you attend regardless of financial aid package. If this is not the case you should apply RD.

Wow thanks for the great advice! I will definitely be applying for scholarships. And I’ve decided to go ahead and audition for NYU :)

That is good to know since it is not clear anywhere i have looked. :)
