<p>SCEA means single-choice early action. It means that you are not bound to Harvard if you are admitted early, but it is the only school that you may apply to early. That being said, your resume looks really impressive and it seems like you would be an interesting person to meet, so I’d say that you have as good of a shot as any.</p>
<p>hate to be a downer but actually pingpong is very common for chinese ppl…i know a lot who are veryyy good at it and competed nationally (in china)</p>
<p>myhommieg is lucky then that he has academic qualifications which, according to what Harvard’s Dean of Admissions once said, would probably qualify him to be an academic “1,” which is the highest rating possible. If you take that academic dedication into account, plus the dedication he has obviously put into pingpong, community service, and other endeavors, I’d think that Harvard would be pretty impressed. Harvard doesn’t care if what you do is common or out of the ordinary. What they do care about is whether or not you have followed that which is important to you with passion, dedication, and a motivation that has allowed you to succeed in that discipline. It seems that this guy really cares about what he is doing.</p>
<p>who do u know who’s competed in China, harvard2727? do they live here? if they live here and have competed in China, I probably know them, haha. I’m pretty knowledgeable in the table tennis arena. I’m not worried about it being ordinary though, because if whoever you know have competed in china, and given the level of competition there, their academic is probably horrible. i came from magnet school myself, all we do is play ping pong. if they have competed in china, not to be disrespectful, they most likely have not done a single other thing cuz ping pong in china is just way too intense.</p>
<p>I look at your stats in two ways. On the one hand, your exceptional grades and dedication to ping-pong make you seem like a hard working and presistant individual, an admirable quality for any Ivy or other elite instituation. On the other hand, I have to agree with Harvard2727 in that your app seems quite typical. A school like Harvard does not merely admit people based on academic and extracirricular qualification, but rather they seek to build a profile of what they want their class of 20whatever to look like. This allows them to gather a diverse body of students that in their eyes, can make the name of HARVARD look good on a worldwide scale. So your being a typical asian applicant may very well be your downfall in this whole process. I, however, am only speculating, this is in no way fact. But I would prepare for the worst because it does nobody andy good to count on getting in. Get some good safeties under your belt, and good luck with Harvard!</p>

<p>hey myhommieg,yep i am applying from china.but there r at most four or five students accepted by harvard each year from mainland-one or two EAs…and this year it’s quite competitive…ABC means american born chinese;)…your stats really amazing!!Good luck to all of us!:)</p>
