In my CC catalog there is a section about repeating a class. Now, you can repeat a class if you have a D or F. However, there’s a section that states what I’m talking about:

*Repetition of courses for which substandard work has not yet been recorded (grades, “A”, “B”, “C”, or “P”) may be permitted only upon petition by the student and with written permission of the Dean of Enrollment Services. Grades awarded for courses repeated under the provisions of this section shall be included when calculating a student’s GPA.

Special circumstances under which a student may be allowed to repeat a course in which he/she has received a grade of “A”, “B”, “C”, or “P” are as follows (going to summarize except on 3):
- Need a refresher course because it’s been a while.
- Need a refresher course because the comprehension of the course material is directly related to success on the job.
**3. When a student with a disability repeats a class, the previous grade and credit shall be disregarded in the computation of grade point average. ***

Now, I have had a lot of problems in school my whole life and it isn’t for the lack of trying either. I’m currently waiting for a doctor to see me about getting finally diagnosed with ADHD as an adult or something similar and see if there’s anything I can do about improving my concentration as well as my horrible memory, bad organization, accident prone lifestyle, and always having to reduce how many classes I take and having a lot of difficult getting around to doing things for school. I’m taking a third year because of this. I’ve been trying to cope, but I think I need to take serious action before I damage my academic record anymore than I already have. I do have Asperger’s. But one thing I want to know is if by retaking any classes I may have gotten a C in if it would matter at all in the admissions process. If it’s not worth it to retake C’s, then I won’t, and I will still seek help regardless. If it is, I’d like to know now because the semester is about to start and I would like to talk to a counselor about this tomorrow, but I need perspective from other people.
