Take engineering classes before transfering to the engineering school?

Hi, all,
I got accepted as a math major by UIUC for 2012 Fall transfer. However, I want to transfer to the engineering school later. I applied to math major when I applied to UIUC transfer because transferring to the engineering school is very competitive, so I applied to the math major, and want to go to UIUC first and then transfer to the engineering school later.
However, prior to transfer to the engineering school, I need to take some required courses for engineering major. I asked my math degree advisor if I can register for those courses, but she told me that I need to talk to people in the engineering school in the fall when classes begin. I am afraid that will be too late, but I don’t know who to ask for help.
Should I email the admissions of the engineering school? What should I do?

Thank you so much for reading my question.

Talk to the engineering school to see what classes you can take their courses or start a minor and start the application processes. Defiantly talk to them though. Go down to their offices.

Thank you for your reply.
I guess I should email them. I am still in my current college, so I cannot go to the office in person.
