I know that you are supposed to take the most challeging courses your school offers, but does this ALWAYS apply?

for ex. my school offers BIO AP. would taking BIO AP be better than not? i’m applying to wharton so bio really won’t have any relevance in the long run i believe…

Ask your guidance counselor if they will put “most challenging” on their recommendation if you don’t take the AP.

Generally speaking, this means taking the most challenging version of required courses (the highest math, language, history, and science classes) and a challenging set of electives. AP Biology isn’t required, but if you have to take biology and AP is one of the options in that set, you’re expected to take it. Even though it seems like Wharton students wouldn’t need biology, the level of difficulty of coursework, the extent of reasoning required, and the time management skills all show that you’re capable of college-level work. Besides, you’ll find Wharton to be more like science classes than you ever imagined :-)
