Take SAT II Math 2 before IB Math or after?

Hi,

I have seen the advice to take the Math 2 SAT II directly after pre calculus.

Wondering if that applies in this case:

Student is currently taking pre calculus in 9th grade.

School is suggesting AP Stats in 10th, IB Math HL in 11th and 12th (delaying IB math because only seniors can test HL).

Should SAT II Math be taken at the end of 9th grade, or after the first year of IB Math (which does contain some review of pre calculus, geometry, and algebra I believe)?

Thanks!

One more try…

Take it right after pre-calc. Don’t wait. IB Math HL is basically AP Calc with a few other topics thrown in.

Which IB Math in 11th grade? Math Studies might be a good review, but Math SL is mostly calculus. At our school strong math students take AP Calc before Calc HL. But I agree with anxiousenior, after pre-calculus and trig is the best time unless you think he or she is not ready. The student should prep for the test no matter when it is taken.

Thanks anxioussenior1 and nw2this, appreciate the advice (nw2this, It is IB Math HL in 11th. They break Math HL into a 2 year sequence at our school, which supposedly includes some geometry and algebra, but not sure it is actually taught that way…so it sounds like taking the test after precalc, as you both suggest, is what he should do).
