Taking 3 sat

I’m considering taking a 3rd SAT because i don’t feel confident about my first score (I was super nervous and completely bombed) and am nervous about my second test i’m taking tomorrow (i’m scared the same thing will happen as my first test). If I take a 3rd SAT will it get averaged or super scored; would it even be a good idea to take a 3rd test.

I’d wait until you get the scores to your second SAT back, before you decide whether or not you are going to take a 3rd. Most colleges will superscore the SAT. This means that they will take the highest of each section, and make a new score, even if you didn’t achieve that on an individual sitting. You cannot tell how you did, or how you think you did, until you have actually taken the test. I’d say take the test tomorrow, and wait until the results come back, before you consider what the most logical next step would be.

Debater1996 is right, no need to worry about the 3rd test just yet. But let the option of a 3rd test be a positive for you – having that option can only help you.

Remember, retaking SAT would only give you minimal improvement in scores. Studying and thorough preparation before taking the test is the only way to improve your score drastically. You can tell whether you are ready for a retake from your current practice score. All schools would either do superscore from all tests, or look at your best single sitting score. Nevertheless, they may put strong emphasize in a single section score for particularly program (e.g. CoE) too. For instance, UMich would look at your best single sitting SAT score but they will also look at your best Match score if it is for CoE and that may come from a different test date.
