Taking a class just for the recommendation?

Let’s just say (hypothetically speaking) that your biology teacher also teaches AP Bio and APES. Let’s also assume he thinks you’re a gifted student that participates in class. He’s also the Science Olympiad coach and sees your talent there. Let’s also say, hypothetically, that you have been in both his bio and AP bio classes. Is it worth taking APES (a course you would self-study otherwise because you want to have a more rigorous courseload) so you can continue to impress him and get him to write you a good recommendation?
All hypothetical…

What course would you have taken instead of APES and what grade are you in?

If you say so…

You’ve already impressed him enough…take the classes you were going to take anyway. (I’m pretty sure my best recommendation came from a teacher I only ever had in one class sophomore year.)

@letme and halcyon: All hypothetical. Just wondering from a course-planning standpoint.
@letme I would probably take ap physics c.

I would take AP Physics C, it looks better. But it depends what grade, you want recs to be from junior year teachers usually.

Ap bio will be junior year for me (unless there’s a scheduling conflict with multivariable or regular physics)
