Taking a few CC classes to lighten the load?

I am 20, and have never taken any college classes, save the CNA one I’m taking now. I plan on applying to various four-year universities to get my BSN, classes starting fall 2013.

In the meantime, if I took biology 103 or some chem at a a CC, would I be able to transfer those credits and not have to do them over? It would be wonderful to have a lighter load for my first year. Now, it obviously depends on the schools in question, but does the principle of the idea sound like it should work?

You would need to speak with your prospective transfer school about it. Remember that transfer students do not typically receive as much aid in the form of scholarships as first-year students, so consider this if you are looking for such aid. I transferred twice, and basic general education requirements often do transfer (intro to biology, math courses, intro to psych, English comp, etc.). But again, you would need to get in touch with the CC and see if they have transfer agreements with any colleges you’re looking to transfer to. If they don’t have a transfer agreement with a college you’re looking at, get in touch with that college.
