<p>My mother and I think taking a gap year might be best for me, but the problem is, my father is very against it because he feels I will forget everything in a year and have a hard time in college. What can I say to defend against this and have him understand that a gap year is best?</p>

<p>I plan on getting a job and going on trips and everything to make full use of the gap year, but would you guys agree with my father here? Taking a gap year is going to screw me up the next year because I’m going to have forgotten everything?</p>
<p>Also, next year may be more competitive. If you got accepted to a decent school, I’d say go and then transfer if you really don’t like it.</p>
