Taking ACT after preparing for SAT

Hi!

I took the SAT and scored 2220 and 2250. I am debating between taking SAT again or trying ACT. However, I am an upcoming senior, which means if I apply for early action, the score that I get is the last thing that colleges see…
I don’t know if this true, but many people think that score on ACT tends to be better than that of SAT. Should I take the September ACT then? Does about three weeks of preparation seem enough? This is a really rash plan but I couldn’t find another way…

2250 is a good score. That is equivalent to a 35 on the ACT. ACT is different from SAT. ACT relies on the familiarity of the test and speed. I seen many people’s score increase with absolutely no studying. The only score you will get that is better than your SAT score is a 36. That means you can only answer at most 2 question wrong ( maybe 3-4 if the curve is nice). Those are very high reach. Definitely is not worth it. 2250 is a good score. I would retake sat and get into 2300s. It is easier. Even then, it wouldn’t make a big difference in the college admission.

Thank you for the advice! I will review the SAT material again then:)

A 2250 equates to a 34- http://www.act.org/aap/concordance/pdf/reference.pdf
But I agree, stick with the sat. 3 weeks prep is enough for the act if you really study hard, but it’s not worth it considering all the college essays/sat prep/stress from the process that you already have on your plate.

Why not take a practice test and see where you stand. I suspect you will do very well on the ACT

That is true! I am restudying SAT right now though I am not really sure how much I can improve. My goal is a 2300+

Thanks for the encouragement but I actually failed ACT practice test… I am very slow at doing problems
