I’m currently sitting on a 2.9 and I need to raise it in order to increase the likelihood of my admittance to a UC…

Can I double up on classes that fulfill the same agreement on assist.org?

I took Communications 100 Fundamentals of Oral Communication

They are 2 different courses, but both UC acceptable.

Can I take SPCH 20 Interpersonal Communications at CCSF to raise my GPA? Just double checking before I commit to taking this class (as I can only take 2 this summer)

Are you referring to both of the classes being accepted as the same class? If this is the case, the UC will see it as you repeating the same class. Their repeat policy is that you can only do so if you receive a D or an F. If the initial grade was passing, they wont factor in the new grade.

Depending on your major, you can still TAG into UCD, UCM, UCSC, or UCR, perhaps a few other schools. Besides, TAG is only a guarantee, it’s not a minimum requirement, other schools will most certainly accept you.

Hey feed, thanks for the reply.

I’m talking about just raising my GPA in general. I took comm 150 and got a passing grade of an A, and being a comm major I figured it wouldn’t hurt to take a different comm class in attempt to raise my GPA as well as extend my knowledge of the subject.

Would it be part of the calculation for my total GPA? Its a UC accepted course.

^Yes of course it would be part of your total UC GPA as long as its UC accepted.

My friend did something similar to what you are thinking, last summer he needed to raise his GPA for tag so what he did was he took 2 summer classes at his CC (interpersonal communication and japanese) and got A’s on both. Then he applied for TAG during the fall (his gpa went from 2.9 to about 3.1-3.3). So yes by all means do it if you can stay committed to raise your GPA.

Thanks to that, he was able to TAG and get into the TAG schools. Although unfortunately, many of the TAG schools are raising their minimum requirement to 3.2, and I know UCSD is raising theirs to 3.5 . So keep that in mind if you were to calculate your gpa to be eligible for TAG.

Awesome reply UCSD. And best of luck to your goal.

Will be taking Interpersonal Communications this coming summer. :o)

Take it easy
