Taking AP Art History, and touring Europe this summer! Where should I visit?

I am taking AP Art History this year, and I will be touring Europe this summer! I would love to visit art museums and what not to experience some monumental works in person before the class begins.

I am going to Amsterdam, Rome, Paris, and London. Any suggestions for places/museums to visit?

Thanks!

Try to go into the Vatican and check out the Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter’s Basilica.

Le Louvre, Le Musee d’Orsay, L’Orangerie, Saint Peter’s, Sistine Chapel, anywhere you can find Caravaggio, Accademia Gallery, Pantheon, Arch of Constantine, Column of Trajan, etc.

Oh, and see if you can find one of the many copies of the Augustus of Primaporta :stuck_out_tongue: That’s my favorite Roman piece.

Before D took AP art history we were in Paris/London for a leadership conference. One of the places we especially liked was Musee Rodin.

Katie,
My business, Masterpiece Cards, has published a free ebook of 250 of the most famous paintings made from the Renaissance through Pop art. The ebook can be sorted by “art museum” and by “city”, so you can know which famous artwork is in the cities and museums you’ll be visiting. Here’s the link to download it: [Famous Paintings eBook 8](http://www.themasterpiececards.com/famous-paintings-ebook-8/)

Masterpiece Cards publishes a boxed set of art history flashcards that explains the art history behind all these masterpieces, as well as providing museum-authorized reproductions of these works. This may also be of interest.

Bon voyage!

Wow, thank you everyone for the many wonderful suggestions. I will try to see as possible! :)

@Susan Benford, Thank you! I will definitely check out the eBook you linked. Sounds very helpful!
