Taking AP exams where there's no knowledge of it?

Hi… In my region, there’s no knowledge on what AP examinations are due to the ignorant state of education. Therefore, there’s no tuition classes, no AP courses, no prep books and so. The examinations are available thanks to the diplomatic education relation between my country and the US.
I have no idea how the exams would be like, and i’m cut off from internet deals to buy some prep books online. I’m currently top in my class, and could possibly be taking either the ib or the a levels… So is the curriculum in ib or a levels enough? Is this a wise choice to take the exams?
I saw many threads in many forums that displayed how high top universities look upon AP examinations. I’m targeting for the Ivy Leagues.
Thanks in advance.

Even if you can’t buy prep books online…there are some free online websites with questions and information that can help you prep for the exams. Which exams are you considering taking?

I know that some of the ivy’s take ib credit along with AP, or they take neither. Anyway, I think that taking the IB’s offered in your school and preforming well on them would be enough to show you are a motivated and intelligent student. Anyway, the Ivy’s will not hold you to the standard of taking AP’s if they are not readily available to you… but that is just my two cents.
