4th Period | Earth Science | (mandatory that I take this course)

5th Period | Global History H |

6th Period | Lunch

7th Period | Design and Drawing for Production |

8th Period | Computer Programming C++ |

9th Period | Computer Multimedia |

10th Period | French |

I know your not supposed to have 10 periods in a school day but I am in a different country at the moment and my dad told me on the phone but he forgot to mention which classes were alternated on each day so please bear with me.

My friend who is the same grade told me I can skip Global History honors right to AP World History. I will most probably do it since I am 1 year behind all the science honors students because taking Earth Science was an honors course in 8th grade which I regretfully didn’t even care about so I was wondering taking AP World History might be a good way to make up for not being in science honors.

One thing I am worried about is that I would still like to have my english teacher and my French teacher because my english teacher actually knows my sister very well and somehow improved her high school career and she ended up in Columbia! My French teacher is actually the husband of my old French teacher who I had in middle school and I really want him because I heard he is a person who never gets mad (not that I do anything bad hahah) abut he is a wonderful teacher no doubt. Of course I will be lucky enough when I go see the guidance department that I have to switch those 2 courses with any other teacher.

My main question is do YOU think this course is rigorous with AP World History added in or will I just be wasting my time pouring myself over books for no personal gain? Thanks in advance!

World History should be fine. From what I gather, it is a lot of memorization involved. But then again, most history oriented APs are memorization based.

Depending on the difficulty and aptitude of your teacher, you may have to work a bit hard to do well in the class and the AP.

Honestly, World History isn’t all that hard. I self-studied the AP this year for about 4 or 5 days and got a 5. It’s mostly memorization, but it should be a lot of things you’ve heard before in previous years, or at least things you’re familiar with, like Rome, Greece, the Age of Exploration, etc. Your teacher may require a lot out of you, but the AP surely won’t. I think you should go and take the class; it’s a good introduction to the AP format and should show you the sort of work ethic an AP requires. It’s definitely a better way to be introduced into the entire system than AP Biology, which I started with in Freshman year… that was quite the nightmare…

Take it, the freshmen at my school are beginning AP World History next year as well. It used to be World History Honors, but they wanted to prepare them for future APs.

And even if you do not do as well as planned on the AP Exam, you still get the exposure to the class and that will really prepare you for the rest of your years in high school.
