Hi everyone, Our son is at UCI but due to limited capacity he needs to take few classes at community college. Has anyone done that and what is the process. Do we need to register at the other college and select classes. Do we need any permissions at UCI. Any inputs are appreciated.

Thank you, We are not sure if this is a mandatory step thats why wanted to hear from expereince and college is not giving staright answers
My understanding is that taking CC classes during the summer is not an issue but taking them concurrently while enrolled at UCI during the regular quarters need to be approved by the UCI major department and advisors. Also believe there are limitations on the number of units outside UCI will accept towards the major requirements.
I suggest he checks with his specific major department before proceeding.

Note that UCI is on the quarter system, while most community colleges are on the semester system, so schedules may not align, and transfer courses that are part of a series may not align for transfer credit.
