I am taking some college courses over the summer. Will this help me get in Harvard College?

Thank you so much
Hello!

Dear Sir/Madam to whom this may concern,

Also, will it make up for a failing grade? I failed English!!!

Thank you so much
Hello!

College courses are definitley to your advantage.

college courses… HM, TAKING APs is just as good. failing a highschool class umm… that might be a big problem… i don’t see a makeup… how have you done on past Aps?

if you’re taking them at harvard (:D)…lol NO ADV at all… that is the first thing they tell on their website… that no pref. is given to students who attened over those who did not… although you do get to talk to the admissions ppl first hand… give your application to them personally…etc.

So then when are college courses an advantage?
If you take them at a public school as part of a free program are they then an advantage? That is a program that everyone had an oppurtunity to attend not just the rich.

Dear Sir/Madam to whom this may concern,

Thanks so much for all your quick reply’s.

I am taking my courses at a local federally funded university. They offer financial aid, so they are avliable to all.

GAclassof2008,

I have taken a total of 10 AP’s.

4 US history
5 Psychology
5 or 4 in Calculus BC and chemistry (I think-- scores have not come out yet)
not sure of others.

Thanks,
Hello!

So free college classes are an advantage?

Dear collegehopeful78 and any other Sir/Madam to whom this may concern,

Wouldn’t all college courses be an advantage? The one’s I take cost me ~ 600$, but that dosen’t mean that they won’t help…Does it?

Thanks
Hello!

Yes, they’re to your advantage, but there are other (possibly better) ways you can spend your time, ie community service, jobs, selective summer program.

i agree w/ mj93… it may help u get a sense of college work… but 4 admissions, i don’t think it does much

Go ahead with your plans…enroll in a college course…it might show that you are ready for college (after all, this is what the SATs are supposed to test you for)

lol, your posts are quite unique, Hello!
I really don’t think you need to be that formal, especially because most people here are high schoolers.

It seems that you’ve already decided that taking a college course is a good thing. If that’s what you think, do it. It’s hard to predict what each college wants and doesn’t want in a particular year; just do what you think is best.

Well the class that I am interesting in taking is college bio. it would heklp me prep for the bio sat 2 and I could also put down that I am taking the A.P bio test which I guess would show some initiative.

Dear Sir/Madam to whom this may concern,

I am also doing research (for Siemens) and volunteer work.

It that a winning combination?

Thank you so much

Hello!

Err, it is a fairly good combination…

question: why do you start every post by dear sir/madam to whom this may concern? Apart from the fact that it’s technically wrong (it’s either dear sir or madam, or to whom it may concern), it’s also…well…how may I put this, weird?

or is that your thing or sth?

Dear debate_addict and any other Sir or Madam to whom this may concern,

Sorry for being technically wrong, and I have checked and it’s supposed to be the one listed above. (At least from the source.)

Also, I write it because it’s the right thing to do because it shows respect.

Also, you said that it’s a “fairly good combination.” How do I make it better?

Thanks
Hello!

Sounds like my summer plans.

takin college bio
doing my Intel project
volunteering at the hospital
and a job at a community center

With all that being related it sounds good right?

1) The sentence just looks weird. I have seen
To Whom it may concern
Dear Sir/Madam
in 2 lines. Otherwise it’s either Dear sir or madam or To whom it may concern.

You may want to show respect but it would not help you in your letters to the admission offices. :)

2) If you have already taken 10 AP exams but failed English class, the universities already know that you can handle university level classes except English. I don’t know how summer Bio class will help you in your case. I would suggest that you do what you love to do in this summer instead. If you really wish to show Harvard that you are trying to improve your English, you would take a summer English class. Again, you should do what you love to do.

This is just my humble opinion ;)

I am not the one who failed english. Read please before posting. Its Hello! who did.
