Taking credit/no credit: How is it viewed by professional schools?

I have the option to take my chem course course credit/no credit (our version of pass/fail); otherwise, I’m probably looking at “C,” so bad but not as bad as it could be, I guess I switched my major to a program that requires another chem. sequence, so I still have a chance to “prove” myself in chem and even the option to take ochem in the future. Would it be disadvantegous for professional school apps. (which requre chem sequence 2, intro/bio&basic organic in one year if any chem at al [many don’t require it]l) if I took the C/NCR option in this class and did well in everything else (A or A- range) this semester and well in future chem classes?

Thanks.

bump…

That’s all too vague and generic to answer. What professional schools? And, so forth?

That’s the kind of question you really should be asking of your faculty advisor and your professional school advising office.

Most of the “professional” school programs will state in their admission requirements whether pass/fail is an option for prerequisites.

The prof programs my D is looking at almost 100% state they want ALL prereq classes to be graded. However, as with anything, it will depend on the school. My suggestion is to scour the websites of a few of the schools you are thinking of. Sometimes you have to actually look at the admissions application itself to find this answer. But this question is usually one that IS addressed upfront.

It’s not a pre-req for these prigrams.
