Taking hard courses but low marks...

Hi,

I’m a Canadian student at a large university ranked approx. top five in Canada. I’m a freshman enrolled in business. I want to transfer to University of Chicago to major in economics.

The courses I’m taking right now are:

Calculus (getting A+)
Management (A)
Introduction to Game Theory (2nd year econ) (B)
Introduction to International Trade (3rd year econ) (B-)
Introduction to International Finance (3rd year econ) (A-)

I got into those higher-level econ courses due to APs. The issue is I’m not getting a very high mark in those courses. I know that when I apply to UC it will probably take into account of my harder courses, but by what degree?

Given that I can probably ace econ 102 (basically int. finance) what should I do for term 2? Choose a third-year econ and get B+/A- or a first year econ and get A+?

Thanks
