So I’m a second year student at a CC and I’m doing my transfer apps this quarter. I’m on the quarter system and my first quarter I took 4 classes (16 units), my second quarter I took 4 classes (16 units), my third quarter I took 5 classes (21 units) and then this quarter I’m only taking 3 classes and 12 units. I’m taking two 5 unit classes (a Bio and an English) and then a 2 unit course. I’m scared because the 2 unit course isn’t transferrable (so do admissions even still count it as being a part of my 12 units that are necessary to be a full time student?) When they see it on my transcript will they just write it off and see me as only having taken 10 units this quarter? I’m especially wondering for competitive schools like Berkeley.
The reason I took a lesser class load this quarter is because my 2 unit course is a political science internship class which requires 6 hours per week. Along with other work commitments (I have 3 jobs) I didn’t have time for more classes. I’m a political science major and I thought it would be a valuable experience. And it definitely is still a lot of work, but I’m worried it might not look like it. I’ve listed it in my activities/volunteer work. Is that all I should do? Do you think I’ll be okay? Also, next quarter, even though I technically have all of my requirements, I’ve listed that I’m gonna take four classes and same with spring quarter. I just don’t want them to think that I got lazy this quarter or something like that…
