Taking me 6 years to get BS in engineering

Hi everyone,

I know engineer is a supposed 4 year program but it seems extremely tough to pull it off in 4 years… I’d have to take 16-18 units per semester and they’re not easy classes either like math, physics, etc (had to take few units before or else i won’t be overwhelmed, or drop some classes). Added with the fact that I had to switch majors which caused me to waste 1 year.

How bad is it to take 6 years to graduate? I know most employers don’t care how long it takes you as long as you finish it but most of my friends are already graduating and I feel like I’m so far behind. Be honest please on what you think on taking 6 years for BS in engineering.

How will you pay for six years?

Lots of engineers take five years to finish, and some do take six. I know one who took about eight. Once you get a job no one will care how long your were in college.

As long as you become a competent engineer who cares ? With the cost of tuition and sometimes life getting in. The way I am not surprised that it could take longer than six to get an engineering degree.
