taking notes in LS

Do people usually bring their laptops to take notes in LS 1/2/3/4?

sorry if the answer is obvious

Well, there are like 10-20 people in my LS1 course who bring their laptops on a regular basis. So, no, you probably won’t be the odd man out. Oh and it will depend on your professor’s lecturing style too…

Phelan uses the overhead projector and uses slides for pretty pictures.
Gibson uses powerpoint slides and reads off of them and he has his lecture notes available online for you to print out.

So for the latter, you would expect more people to just write on their print-outs rather than typing things out and later connecting them to slides.

if it works for you then do it. whats it matter what other people do?

but most people just write on the slide printouts or notebooks.

but ive seen people with MS Office OneNote, and they can import the ppt/pdf slides into there and then type notes next to the slide.

you dont need a laptop. if you really want to get every word the prof is saying, get a recorder or use bruincast (most of the LS classes have this).

the easiest and optimal thing to do is write all over the lecture notes (ppt slides) because you have more freedom to draw all kinds of arrows and signs. then, if you have time after lecture, go to the library and organize the lecture notes that you took.
