Taking SAT 2 vs 3 times

I got a god awful 1910 on the March SAT and am expecting about a 2100 on the June SAT. I am not satisfied with either of these scores and am strongly considering retaking in October. Do you guys think that if I got say a 2300 in October this would make up for taking it 3 times? In other words if I improve about 200 points per test but took it 3 times would it look good or bad to colleges?

I think it would look good if you actually keep improving. It would look like you had a case of test anxiety and finally got comfortable. On the other hand if you happen to fall somewhere between 1910 and your June test score then it will confirm your testing range.

Yes i think it is possible, if you are willing to buy every SAT book on the market and do about a test every other day and review the test every other day, go over ALL question right or wrong, and take the Princeton review 1 on1 tutoring,

if its that big of deal to you, and you have ambition i think you can get a perfect score =p

Score choice means they don't have to know how many times you took it. Plus, an increase of 200 is noticeable, and YES, worth it. Definitely do it if you believe you can get it and are willing to work. Remember - your grades come first, other worries second.

EDIT: Right and you don't need all the prep the dude above me stated. I studied for a month from May to June (2120 June, 2140 superscored from Jan.) and I stand a decent chance at a 2300 this time. I only used the BB and its online explanations (and QoD.) But get DH as well.

I kind of shot myself in the foot, I took the SAT too many times before I was really ready.

June was my 4th time and I think I have a good shot at getting a 2100...but I had to take it 4 times. Lucky for me, it appears that only 2 or 3 of the schools that I plan on applying to don’t accept Score Choice. One is a state school, while it is OOS, it is not super selective, but I am hoping to get merit $. The other two are Georgetown and Cornell, so it will look bad taking it 4 times for them, but I wouldn’t really have a prayer if I was only applying with a 1960 superscore to those schools.

Oh well, at least I can claim I had a lot of perseverance and dedication lol.

Yes, you can take the SAT 3 times. This month (June) was my 3rd time taking it. My scores thus far have been 2120 (from May '09), 2290 (from January '10), and so far from the consolidated answers, I have a 2400. I think if you can keep showing improvement each time, it should reflect very positively on you.

Alright thanks guys. Yeah I just need to study a lot of vocab over the summer and get more familiar with the test format. I have perfect grades and good EC's so test scores are the only thing weighing me down right now.
