Hi everyone, I will be taking the SAT in November. This isn’t to fulfill my testing requirement; I already took the ACT and got a 35 (34 English/Writing). It is for National Merit!!! Please read that before you make assumptions because I have already had so many people saying “Why are you such a grade grubber” “Why are you retaking a 35” blah blah. Anyway, I’m taking it in Nov. for NMSF. However, some schools I’m applying to (UCs) require all scores to be sent, so I’m guessing I’ll have to send my SAT. If I do worse than 35, will this negatively affect my admissions a lot? I got a 225/228 on the PSAT, if that’s any help. And I’m taking the SAT without writing. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
You only have to send all ACT or SAT scores for the UC’s. You do not need to send both. You can choose which SAT subject tests to send since they are recommended not required.
You sound like you will do fine. Takes a few mock/practice tests first if you are concerned.
While true for the UC’s, the OP, based on previous thread, is applying to schools which will require the entire testing history. However, also based on prior threads, I think she is once again making a mountain out od a molehill. Based upon PSAT scores, I’m sure you SAT scores will be fine. Stop worrying about things that might not happen; the application process is stressful enough. Good luck.
@Gumbymom Oh, I didn’t know that. Well, thanks!
@jym626 Will do, thanks!
@skieurope “once again” making a mountain out of a molehill? well thanks
Another thought is to get all your apps submitted before you get your SAT scores back
@jym626 I’ll def have submitted my UC app by the time the scores come out, but probably not the Common App haha
