Taking SAT2 in native language?

<p>the title says it all. Does taking SAT2 in native language look bad on the transcript? I heard one of my friend’s private counselor said that it does, while my school counselor said otherwise. SO what is it? SHould i just take the free 800?</p>

<p>Depends what kind of school you’re applying to. Public schools like the UCs will not care (its actually stated), however that likely won’t be the case with, say, HYPS. If you really need that free 800, there’s no school that won’t accept it, but yeah, for competitive schools, you want a competitive app, and the several hundred thousand people taking SAT Korean/Chinese/other don’t necessarily make you stand out.</p>

<p>An extra 800 never hurts, but if you’re applying to an elite private school, you shouldn’t let that replace another SAT II.</p>
